Method

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sodium carbonate and baking soda. Stir until well mixed.

Step 2

Add the grated bar of soap to the bowl and continue to mix until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

Step 3

If desired, add the essential oils to the mixture and stir until well incorporated.

Step 4

Transfer the homemade washing powder to an airtight container, such as a glass jar for storage.

Step 5

Use 1-2 tablespoons of the homemade washing powder per load of laundry, depending on the size and soil level of the laundry.

Step 6

Store the homemade washing powder in a cool, dry place between uses.

  • 480g of Sodium Carbonate
  • 480g of Baking Soda
  • 1 bar of natural soap (such as castile soap or homemade soap), grated
  • Optional: 20-30 drops of essential oils for fragrance (such as lavender, lemon, or tea tree)
